Dream BIG!

Last year around this time I kept coming across Instagram posts about the #weallgrow Summit.  It intrigued me and I began to follow the weekend unfold wishing I was there “liking” every picture. I saw bonds, sisterhood, motivation and so much more–and they were all Latinas!   I told myself that I needed to be there at the next summit.  When I saw the “early bird” registration, I wanted to sign up but I was very apprehensive about it because I had no one in my immediate circle who might want to attend- nothing wrong with that and it’s understandable.  It’s not everyone’s thing.  My insecurities began to speak to me, “You shouldn’t go because you are going to look like a moron walking around all alone at this huge event full of amazing women who are conquering the world.”.  But something in me made me register any way.  I bought a single ticket.  Felt so weird…I was going ALONE-gulp!  I was scared but so excited at the same time.  The year couldn’t come fast enough.

I can’t believe the summit has come and gone already.  I had such an amazing time.  I learned so much and was empowered to do great things!  The energy was incredible!!  Imagine a room full of Latinas who want to make a difference.  We were all feeding each other ideas.   Motivating, stirring one another and bringing out our best-and it had been in us all along.  No idea was too far fetched or weird.  Every idea I have had and finally got to share with my new friends was made to feel within my reach and all I had to do was-DO IT!

Those ideas are now on paper and I will eventually make them happen.  And if they don’t happen, then I’ll move on to the next idea.  I have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.  So get ready because you will be hearing this Mexican American’s name more often.

I want to thank all the amazing ladies whom I met this past weekend.  You have given me the courage and drive to keep dreaming BIG and to act on my dreams.  I am grateful for that!  So now I want to encourage you all (my readers) to also dream big.  Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.  Do what you love and be true to yourself.  Take up the call.  But don’t forget who you are and know where you are going.

To help you dream big, I’m giving away a goodie bag filled with Elena of Avalor cuteness.  All you have to do is post a picture of yourself on Instagram with the hashtags #DreamBigPrincess and #dreamingwithabuelaskitchen and tell me what your BIG DREAM is and what you are going to do about it!  OR you can tell me below.

*****CLOSES MARCH 14, 2017 @ 9PM PST.

Good luck and keep dreaming!

Con Cariño,

Silvia

  3. Silvia, I am so happy for you. Stepping out of our comfort zone is sometimes so difficult. I always have some issues with that. But I am so glad you did. You were in great company. Congrats to you. I don’t want to win anything, I just wanted to share in your Joy. You are a Blessing to others, and that’s what we should all be striving for to build up our Latina Sisters!

I’m more of a realist but I do dream of big things for my babies. I dream they grow to be happy, smart, well rounded little people who love life and go for everything they set their mind to. 🙂

Hola! Thank you so much for giving an opportunity to win such a delightful gifts! My only wish is for my 2 beautiful sweet granddaughters are to know that it inspite of the odds of winning the gifts, that they enjoy the fact that there is finally a Latina Princess that is named after their great grandmother “Elena” she was an amazing woman who endured so many struggles in life and was able to overcome the obstacles despite her struggles. Many in our family which were named after her are strong Latina women who were inspired by strength, wisdom, and generosity to her family, friends, and church community. A true legacy this woman has produced also
is dearly missed by all she knew and touched from the heart ❤️.

  6. Hola Silvia! I am a huge fan of you and your Abuela’s videos. They inspire me to get closer to mine while I still have her (mind you, yours reminds me of mine and she’s from Panindicuaro!) But that’s not my dream, it’s one of them but not my biggest. My biggest dream is to push hard and teach my son all of the skills he needs to live an independent life. You see Silvia, he has Autism and that is one huge struggle. Mi familia and I are working so hard to give him that dream of independence. Each step we take is a push towards that big dream of ours.

I have so many dreams that I want to accomplish in life . As of now I put my personal dreams on hold to focus on my children’s dreams. It is my biggest dream and accomplishment to be there for my kids every step of the way. Thanks to my husband I have the opportunity to stay home with my kids. My daughter is 2 years old and my son will be 5 in April . With them being so young I think it’s so important that I teach them to have value for all things in the world and to always dream big and never give up on that dream no matter how hard it seems or how long it takes. I want to be an example for my children and accomplish my personal dream for myself to attend college and earn a degree. I hope to show them that I had a dream and never gave up regardless of how long it took. Thanks for this opportunity
